Worship Ministry 

The purpose of the Worship Ministry at First Baptist Dexter is to honor God by leading people to express heart-felt worship when the body of Christ gathers together.  This happens during weekly worship services and other special events.  As we worship and learn together, it is our hope that each believer grows in their personal worship experience and expression.

Worship is at the heart of First Baptist Dexter’s services.  A blended style of worship, recognizing that God can speak and move through all forms of music and the arts is incorporated.  Whether it is through choir or orchestra specials, or in corporate worship, music and drama enhance the worshipper's experience and help lead in moments of transformation and wonder. • Celebration Choir: This is our adult choir which leads in worship each Sunday morning and presents special music throughout the year.  If you would like to try us out, we would love to have you join us at our regularly scheduled rehearsal on Wednesday from 6:00-7:30 p.m. in the choir suite, located upstairs near the entrance to Kidopolis.  No audition is required, just a heart of faithfulness!
• Celebration Orchestra: Christians are instructed to worship and praise our Heavenly Father through song and instruments, and the Celebration Orchestra helps lead in weekly Sunday worship. We are a family of musicians who enjoy worshiping Jesus with excellence each week during our Sunday morning worship service and special events throughout the year.  The orchestra is open to anyone who is able to play the music in our library. Experience level typically needed is two to three years of playing.  We rehearse on Sundays from 4:30-5:45 p.m. in the Worship Center. New musicians are always welcome, so pull out your instrument and dust it off to help us praise the Lord together.
• Drama Ministry:  Did you enjoy being in plays in high school? Perhaps you like to design and decorate scenery, create props or sew costumes. If so, we have a place for you!  We use actors in full length presentations as well as vignettes during the worship services that support the theme of the day.  Many times we produce our own illustration and theme videos to enhance the messages that are being preached.  We are always in need of more actors & tech support, so please contact us today!
• Praise Band:  The praise band forms the rhythm section of our instruments and lead worship each Sunday.  If you have experience in the areas of guitar, keyboards, percussion or drum set then this may be the ministry area for you to join.  Rehearsals are every week as we prepare the set for Sunday worship as well as learning new music.
